As you can see from illustration the roof changes pitch at the porch from a 9 12 to a 3 12 pitch.
Standing seam metal roof slope transition.
Roof pitch slope for reference standing seam metal roofing is not one size fits all.
We re going to do a pitch transition or change.
Low slope metal roofs require less material which reduces the overall load on the building s structure.
If you have a low slope application 3 12 or less is the industry standard it is important that you choose a mechanical system that is double locked.
We require at least a 3 12 pitch for standing seam panels to ensure proper water drainage.
By the way pitch is measured by picking any point on the roof place a level on it measure 12 out from that point this is called the run and then down to the roof surface from the bottom of the level this is called the rise to see how many inches the roof pitches over 12.
See our installation guide for more info.
We need to do something where that change happens so the panels can go down and water can come off hit the lower slope and come off the roof.
This guide is does not cover some aspects of installation.
Butyl sealant tape or tube sealant should be used under all z channel.
Minimum slope requirements depending on the roof profile there are minimum roof slope requirements for each panel which need to be considered.
You ll have a steeper part of your roof turning into a lower slope so there s a steeper pitch up top and a lower pitch on the bottom.
This means that the minimum roof slope required for panels is 3 inches of rise per foot.
Low slope metal roofs have simple geometries and are easier and less expensive to install that medium to steep slope roofs.
